I worked full-time while while bringing up children and surviving a dying marriage. Early retirement came with a new, wonderful relationship (we actually communicate), and the opportunity to write full time and once again reach for that elusive state of published author...

I live in West Cork, run a couple of acres with my husband. People call it the simple life - it's anything but. We have chickens, and dogs and cats, use water from a well, and have a large veg patch demanding attention. Robin is studying for a PhD in paleontology/archaeology (we both have a deep interest in the iron age), and I am studying fiction.

I was, once upon a different life-time, published in genre fiction (Virgin Black Lace/Chimera, and various romance imprints), but I gave up trying to tell people it was a pretty cool achievement, and that my mainstream efforts are not rubbish despite not having been published in the traditional way.

We both play Irish music, he on fiddle and mandola, me on button box and an 18th century black-wood flute.
