David Parkin

After graduating from Lancaster University in 1997, David set up arts organisation metro-boulot-dodo with fellow students. MBD started as an experimental theatre company and soon received international festival awards, including Total Theatre Best Newcomer award in Edinburgh.

They then moved on to create innovative cross artform work including installations, performances, interactive tours, visual art and new media, large scale spectacle and site specific heritage work.

Dave left the company in 2012 to concentrate on his writing and music. He has created:

• “Good Friday” – a ‘clinical depression concept album show ™’ that toured England and Canada.
• “Tea Bags, Soap, Be Normal” – A memoir about recovering from a brain injury.
• “The Nose That Nobody Picked” – The children’s book and Mucusical. The book was nominated for the ‘James Reckitt Hull Children’s Book Award’ and the mucusical continues to tour, delighting children and adults alike.

Recently he was dramaturg for Tom and Lillian Henley’s “Elephant and Castle”, a touching, funny, occasionally sinister show about dealing with sleep walking and talking within a relationship.

As usual, he has no idea what he is going to do next…
