• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Litopians! Arise and compete! There are thirty writing contests in August, none of which charge entry fees. This month there are contests for short stories, essays, poetry, and for both published and unpublished full-length works. Prizes range from $50 to $25,000. As always, read the guidelines carefully. Many contests have geographical and age restrictions.

Thank you!

(Erm..wish I'd seen this before...never mind, never mind.. I did *not* spend all that money on..naw...) Thanks again.

Hi Laura, I post a list of free contests towards the end of every month. So, keep my blog on your radar. You didn't waste your money on paid contests. Entering a contest means you honed your work, and made it competitive. That is a good thing in and of itself.
