• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Poetry Compilation

The World Between the Words
I was working Friday night when an old song on the radio inspired me. Apologies to any Carly Simon fans out there.

"Compilation"
(to the tune of "Anticipation", by Carly Simon)

I still don't know when this code will run,
But my manager told them yesterday.
So I hope the damn thing will compile now,
I click "build now" and begin to pray.

Compilation.
Compilation.
It's making me wait.
Now the build is failing.

Lemme tell you, this spaghetti code is an evil stew,
Convoluted, and the documentation is shitty.
So I, I'll puzzle it out until late tonight,
Fuelled by leftover pizza and a pot of coffee.

Compilation.
Compilation.
My release is late,
And the customer's waiting.

It's tomorrow, the build's ready to deliver.
It's not perfect, but no show-stoppers are in the way.
Thank God, testing hasn't uncovered the bugs for now.
Unless somebody bitches, I'll get to those bugs "someday".

I'll fix those bugs someday.

Unless somebody bitches, I'll get to those bugs "someday".

I'll fix those bugs someday.
I'll fix those bugs someday.
I'll fix those bugs someday.
I'll fix those bugs someday.
