• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I've just joined the colony. I've just completed my first middle grade novel, HARRY LOW & THE HAIRY STAIRCASE which featured in the Pop-Up Submissions show. I have also completed a number of picture book texts and a chapter book.

I completed the Writing For Children course at City University and the Children's Writing Workshop at City Lit - tutored respectively by Tamsyn Murray and Lou Kuenzler.

My passion is for comic writing for various ages. If you are working on humourous middle grade, then maybe I can give you some feedback.

Hello and welcome, Andrew! Well done on submitting to Pop-Ups. I'm sure you'll find lots of like-minded writers here in the Colony to share critiques with.

Hi @AndrewSyers

A warm welcome. I read your piece on Pop Ups and enjoyed it a lot. Glad you've taken the plunge and joined the colony.

If you need any help navigating your way through the labyrinth then give me a shout. Here's a good place to start. Litopia How-to
