• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I don't know if you're aware of a new online literary magazine called Thin Skin?

Thin Skin Magazine

They only take submissions from writers over 50. They've published four issues so far, and the quality of stories is very high.

Free to submit, and all submissions are anonymous. They don't ask for bios until they accept a piece, so you can be sure it doesn't matter whether you've been published before or not. They are only interested in the the story.

They're looking for short stories up to 3,000 words and flash fiction up to 1,000 words, any theme, genre or style. (No poetry, unfortunately).
If two independent readers agree on the story, it's then passed to two senior editors for the final decision.

They aren't a paying market yet, but it's a worthwhile title to add to your writing CV, plus having the satisfaction that your story is selected on the strength of the writing rather than having to 'sell' it.

Anyway, I thought it might be of interest to my fellow senior writers.

And they've accepted a story of mine for the next issue. So there's that too.

Issue 5 out now including a story by yours truly.
