How much does she want to sell him for? I think it would help if she put a price tag. I'd say start high, then follow up with an offer later. She could do a half price Xmas flash sale if he doesn't shift by the 24th. Or she could get together with the woman above and offer two for one.
 
Or perhaps she could offer a large sum to take him off her hands? And a Christmas cake? He's very useful in the garden, I hear.
