• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Untitled design(15).pngI’d like to formally announce that @mickleinapickle has agreed to become the Colony’s new Blogs Moderator, in exactly the same way as @Sedayne is now our fabulous Lab Moderator. Both roles supervise one, very important, area of the Colony. Thank you, Mick!

At the same time, we’ve redesigned, and hopefully improved, the layout for your blog posts.

As you’ll see from the thumbnail, there’s a cleaner look to each post. We’ve tried hard to make the post itself easier for readers to, well, read. Online reading isn’t always a pleasurable experience. Hopefully we’ve made it a bit easier for people who read your articles.

The single biggest change, though, is the arrival of sub-titles. Every blog post you make from now onwards will need to have a sub-title. This is something that WordPress doesn’t offer natively: but they are so important to the process of successfully turning a browser into a reader that we’ve coded them into the system.

The posting process is pretty much the same, with one small change – read it here.

With 30,000 unique visitors every month, Litopia.com is a great platform for you, our Colonists. Blog posts need not be long – they are not essays. In fact, shorter ones are often more effective. So please take advantage of this opportunity to have some writing fun while building awareness for your own writing. Mick will be pleased to guide you through the set-up process.

I should have mentioned…

Your previous blog posts can also now have sub-titles added. It’s well worth browsing through them and adding an enticing sub-title to each one… it not only looks better on the page, but it definitely helps with search engines.
