• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Hello again,

I've been a Litopian before, but haven't used my account in a while due to some heavy-duty procrastination which involved turning my garden into an allotment and learning to surf. I am also now ranked 25th in the world at an online game called WordWow Big City.

Sooo...anyway, I'm back to writing after several rather Jungian dreams about getting in my own way.

Currently 55k words into a complete rewrite of a YA fantasy novel I wrote during the first lockdown and which I am just after realising but moments ago, basically has the same plot as Avatar (and therefore also Pocahontas, Fern Gully, Dances with Wolves etc etc -"Stranger in a strange land gets on well with locals" + "bad people try to f*** with nature").

Not to worry, I shall keep ploughing on through this well-furrowed field, stopping to provide the odd critique in the workshops when it all gets a bit boggy.

Great to see you again, @SarahC ! I think there's always a market for villains who try to destroy a world occupied by people who just want to live in harmony :)
