• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Marvel Gumshoe

Guest
After many years publishing other people's fiction, I have finally managed to push one of my own titles out into the world. The Weirdest Island Ever by Marvel Gumshoe, for age 10+.

One of the brilliant aspects of this project is that my son, Tom, aged 10, played a big role in sanity-testing and proof reading.

Also, the title was given to me by a pupil at Willaston Primary school in Douglas during the last Manx Litfest.

"The island of New Orange welcomes you!
Located in the middle of an undefined ocean, at over 500 miles from its nearest neighbour, it is a place where people go to hide from the world.
The island boasts of beautiful beaches, fascinating caverns, a state-of-the-art retirement home for vampires, a museum run by mummies, a brand-new pizzeria and has been dragon-free for hundreds of years...until a few days ago...

Run! Run for your life! Save yourself!
And remember, danger is not always where you hope to find it."

Marvel, this is wonderful! I've been following your struggles on Litopia for years and it's fantastic to see you finally succeed! I cannot offer enough congratulations!
