• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

How do you get them?

I have 2 so far. But most deal site require a minimum of 10 before they'll consider you for their lists.
I need more.

On Amazon US, there are only four ratings and one review. All the unreviewed ratings are five stars. This is not a good look.

If someone on Litopia has rated Prophecies without a review, PLEASE consider writing one. To a potential customer, five stars without context looks like the Friends and Family Plan.

@Bloo✒️ I thought Amazon banned friends and family reviews and won’t allow them for any connected accounts and if they discover reviews from friends and family they delete them. I also thought that if an account repeatedly broke this rule they ban an individual from publishing with them for all time. That’s my understanding, but I could be wrong

Do be very careful with ratings and reviews with no 'verified purchase' There's a lot of speculation about what social networks and forums Amazon trawls to find "suspicious" connections between authors and reviewers on self-published books. It may only be speculation ...
Yes. I had to tell both my brothers not to review my book for this reason

Do you have an author newsletter? If so, you could offer review copies in exchange for a review. I think the reviewer would have to state that they received a free copy in exchange for an honest review - if so, ask them to put this at the end, so it isn't the first thing readers see.
Also, have you put a review request in the end matter? Something like 'Thanks so much for reading. If you enjoyed this book would you consider leaving a review on line or on the site you bought the book from? Reviews make a huge difference to independent authors who rely on word of mouth to get their work known.'
Back to your newsletter, you can explain to your followers why their one review can make a massive difference!

Yeah. I do have a request for reviews at the back of the book.
I'm up to 4 now, i think.

I only have one subscriber to my newsletter at the moment (poor individual).
