• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Several of us have mentioned Stephen King's On Writing as being one of our favourite guides to the writing process.

On Writing

Delancey Place reminded me of it, with it's daily excerpt delivered to my email today:

the adverb is not your friend -- 3/3/16

It's going to make me go on an adverb hunt. I've been editing my WIP for the last few weeks, chasing filler words and repetitions. It feels a bit like running to stand still, as a month ago my word-count was 57,000 and it's only just crept over 60,000. I've removed about 1,500 words, which has improved the flow, but it still doesn't feel like much of an achievement.

The devil's in the details!
